Brendan O’Brien

Co-founder and Chief Evangelist

Brendan O’Brien is Chief Evangelist and a Co-founder at Aria Systems. In 2002 he introduced the world to cloud billing, and innovated database-driven, enterprise-grade web applications – before the concept of “cloud” was even on the horizon. O’Brien is at the forefront of the recurring revenue revolution that is empowering enterprises — and specifically enabling information systems and new business models to secure predictive revenue streams while improving business processes.

The original product architecture he designed for Aria in 2002 was the culmination of that experience; it’s an infinitely flexible and scalable recurring revenue management solution that can be adapted to any industry or vertical. Aria’s leadership today confirms Brendan’s original vision.

Trained as a professional stage actor and classical tenor, in the mid ‘90s Brendan realized coding paid better; his love of music’s reflected in the company’s name, and his continuing contributions to Philadelphia’s Academy of Music, the Walnut Street Theater, and the Academy of Vocal Arts.

Usage Data: The Key to Monetizing the Internet of Things

With the rise of the IoT (Internet of Things), the era of truly BIG data is upon us. And buried in those endless data streams from billions of connected “things” is customer usage – a type of data that’s essential to recurring revenue success.Unfortunately, most companies only incorporate usage in their billing systems when it directly relates to services they can bill (ex: data charges on a smartphone). As a result, they stand to miss out big time because usage is a key driver of recurring monetization in IoT.
